In the first week of July, the members of BdZA, a member of Young Dentists Worldwide, had their summer meeting during the Dental Summer- Event 2010 which was organized by the IFG (Internationale Fortbildungs-Gesellschaft) . The company IFG provides courses and congresses in the field of dental postgraduate education and is cooperating with the association in the field of young dentists’ education. 250 free participants were invited to be part in the event in case they were dental students or assistant doctors. In times of increasing fees for dental courses, it was not a surprise that the tickets were handed out in a fast time. IFG provides lectures and courses held by leading dentists plus lecturers who are the best in fields that touch the field of dentistry in different ways. For example one of the lecturers was

Prof. Samy Molcho, a well- known expert in bodylanguage who gave his knowledge about non- verbal communication to the large number of participants. But he is just an example. As IFG is providing high- quality education and is doing much for the young generation, BdZA decided to grant them the first ALUMNI- Prize for excellent contribution to the young dental generation.  In the name of Executive Committee of BdZA, Juliane Gnoth and Jan- Philipp Schmidt handed out the prize to the CEO of IFG, Wilhelm Hakim. He and his team always have an open ear for the needs of the young generation and that for the EXCO of BdZA was proud to hand over the prize for their actions.

BdZA is supporting the young colleagues after their graduation in tight cooperation wtih the German Student Association (BdZM) and the German Dental Chamber (BZÄK). By giving out a prize for the best contribution to young dentists’ education, BdZA hopes that other educational associations or companies will be inspired also to do more for the upcoming dentists’ generation.

The Dental Summer event was a great opportunity for good education plus the possibility for young dentist to exchange ideas and have discussions. BdZA held their working meeting to develop the current projects so as „Goodbye Dentist-working abroad“ and „Post-graduate education“. Next year even more participants will be expected and hopefully a new tradition was born with the Dental Summer Meeting.
