The Young Dentists Worldwide Forum gives ideas and perspectives from scientists and generalists who have already taken their decisions in career. The participants should be able to be informed about the several possibilities they have in finding their best way to work in the dental field.

Through the scientific developments in our field, young dentists are nowadays confronted by different ways of constructing their professional life. The several possibilities of post- graduate education and the diversity of how young professionals can work- from university to single dental practice- make young dentists facing a variability of decisions after their graduation. The globalization gives them also the chance to develop their dental career in different countries. The aim of the Young Dentists Worldwide- Forum is to show the diversity of possibilities and to discuss with the young generation.

Dr. Vasia Karathanasi, Greece

Topic: " Standing on the crossroad between General dentistry and Specialty", 14:00-14:30

Vasiliki Karathanasi qualified in dentistry and completed the 3-year postgraduate program of Oral Pathology&Medicine at the Dental School of Athens with honours. She contributed in the portfolio development of the ADEE regarding the competences of the modern European dentist. She is currently a PhD candidate and maintains her own dental clinic for the last 7 years.


Dr. Sagar J.Abichandani, India

Topic: „Razzmatazz in Dentistry”, 14:30-15:00

Dr. Abichandani completed his graduation from Dr.D.Y.Patil Dental College & Hospital, Mumbai and has the distinguished honour of receiving numerous presitigious awards nationally and internationally. Also privileged to lecture at various forums / conferences / meetings  nationally and internationally.


Dr. Magdalena Maciejowska, Poland

Topic: “To PhD or not to PhD”, 15:00-15:30

Currently she is in a course of PhD studies in the Department of Dental Anatomy, Medical University of Wrocław/ Poland. She is doing research in the field of Gerodontology and Oral Medicine. Dr. Maciejowska is the Secretary General of Young Dentists Worldwide and an Honorary life member of SSS Iasi, Romania.


Dr. Nikos Mattheos, Australia

DDS,  MASc, PhD

“Implant Dentistry: a new specialty or an extension of general dentistry?", 15:30-16:00

Nikos Mattheos  graduated from the University of Athens.  He completed his PhD degree in the University of Malmö and a 3 year full time residency in University of Bern, Switzerland with focus on implant dentistry. He is currently Associate Professor in the Dental School of the Griffith University in Gold Coast, Australia.


The lectures of the YDW- members are followed by a discussion about the topic with the participants of the forum, chairman will be the Communication Officer of Young Dentists Worldwide, Juliane Gnoth (Germany). Discussions will be from16:00-16:30.
