HELSINKI, Finland: According to Finnish researchers, the number of dental panoramic tomographs (DPTs) and lateral cephalometric radiographs (LCRs) outweighs other radiographic examinations in 7- to 12-year-olds in Finland. However, only little information about the quality of orthodontic radiographs is available today. Therefore, researchers at the University of Helsinki assessed data of 250 patients in this age group and found that orthodontic radiography may not completely fulfil the criteria of good practice.
