According to a report from the American Academy of Pediatrics, parents are missing the mark when it comes to routine dental care for babies. Dentists recommend kids get their first check up before their first birthday. “At an age one visit, it’s not all about getting the child into the dental chair and looking at the teeth, that’s part of it," said Dr. Hans Reinemer. “It’s a lot about educating the parent talking about nutrition, talking about preventive measures, and so forth." A recent study by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, most parents do not regularly clean their child’s teeth. “Once the teeth start coming in, then it’s important to start brushing the teeth and the easiest way to do that is when you’re changing a diaper or have a child on the changing table. You can do that a couple time a day," Reinemer said.
