Sesame Street’s new oral health multimedia kit targets kids, parents and dental professionals

Beloved Sesame Street characters Elmo and Abby Caddaby are reaching out to preschool children, parents, caregivers and health professionals with important oral health messages through Sesame Workshop’s latest oral health outreach effort. Healthy Teeth, Healthy Me is a bilingual multimedia outreach initiative designed to empower children ages 2 to 5 years make healthy choices for their oral health and educate adults about the benefits of oral health care, having a dental home and taking care of primary teeth. Launched last month by the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, the program is sponsored by Sam’s Club and MetLife Foundation.

Twitter expert Martha Stewart is making the best of what might seem like an awful afternoon by including many exclamation marks in every dispatch from her dentist’s office. She started the day at the gym with her dogs, which sounds wonderful, but soon it was time to see Dr. Lowenberg. Apparently he made a “perfect bridge for the upper left portion of my jaw-result of a broken tooth! Great!” Gross? Lest her fans worry about how it was going, the updates continue: “The bridge fits. Hooray!” she wrote. (Who is taking these photos?!) “The best dentists anywhere!”

It’s a crown fit for a king. A dentist in central Alberta has shelled out nearly $10,000 to buy a dental crown made for rock legend Elvis Presley. Michael Zuk already owns a rotten tooth out of the mouth of Beatles icon John Lennon. The Elvis crown came to him through an auction in the United Kingdom and had previously belonged to Memphis dentist Henry Weiss.

She then showed if off as she returned to her day job on Loose Women, explaining that it had fallen out after she won Big Brother. But clearly feeling very self-conscious about her gappy smile, Denise Welch wasted no time in having it corrected and emerged from the dentist yesterday with a beaming smile on her face.
